I was trying to...

...explain this to Spencer and Alyssa earlier on but I figured I'd just post it. Some out-there mofos. Warning: length 1hr 30min

Wow, that was tight. I must be the only one who watched that hour and a half behemoth.

I guess my biggest qualm with this was their attempts to link the mental illnesses of these men with working on the limits of logic. Godel for instance starved to death because his wife was hospitalized, and wasn't there to taste his food for six months. He refused to eat and starved. Cantor was obviously a paranoid schizophrenic, and Boltzmann manic depressive. John Nash would be another, more popular example. Interesting overall though.

For another mindfuck, look into imaginary time. Get ready to realized that every moment of every possible universe exist simultaneously.

yeah the connection between those cat's work and their madness is tenuous to be sure - however i thought it was cool how the film portrayed all of them as trapped in interminable loops of awareness - to me that is like the freakiest shit.

haha. yeah imaginary time is weird. my favorite tho is the theory that it is more probable that we are in a simulation of a universe than an actual one. Tho it seems to me Turing's stuff with machines would negate such a theory (?).
