Relics - The Stax/Volt Revue, Norway 1967

(Just a quick one...for inspiration!)

On April 7th in 1967, the Stax/Volt record label put on a show in Oslo, Norway and called it the Stax/Volt Revue. The show was part of a big European tour and featured performances by
Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Booker T & the MGs, Arthur Conley, Eddie Floyd and the Mar-Keys.
Needless to say, they crrruusssshed it.
And somebody taped it...
I was able to catch some of the live footage on PBS a while back and was floored by all that I was able to see, particularly Otis Redding's portion which you know you need to view below! In general it's pretty funny and cool to watch a bunch of dorky whitey Norsk teens get their blocks knocked off by some of the most musically ballsy and raucous performers of this scene and era. They go from being docile lil' bobble heads to raging blondies, charging the stage as Otis finishes his like, 9th encore of 'try a little tenderness'...it's a beautiful thang.

The rest of the show can be viewed on youtube of course, but the dvd was also released as part of a the Stax/Volt
50th anniversary celebration in 2007. It's called "The Stax/Volt Revue Live in Norway 1967" so peep that shit in some form or fashion!!!
